Presenter: Padre Melo
Jesuit priest and human rights activist in his native Honduras. He directs the Jesuit radio station, Radio Progreso, and ERIC, the Team for Reflection, Research and Communication, whose work encompasses grassroots radio programming; training on human rights, community organizing, and empowerment; the formation of leadership committed to social change; and aiding migrant families.
Padre Melo was a student of Ignacio Ellacuria, S.J., rector of the Jesuit University in San Salvador, who was murdered in 1989 along with five other scholars and priests. Melo was also a friend of the housekeeper and her daughter who were also killed. His visit will coincided with the 26th anniversary of the murders.
