Are you a Fan?
There are many exciting happenings at our parish this year. We are happy to announce the launch of a new Saint Francis Xavier Facebook Fan Page!
The goal of our Fan Page: to encourage community. This free Fan Page offers us a “gathering place" where we can get to know each other and build on our already robust community.
The Facebook Fan Page includes important links to Parish Life at Saint Francis Xavier with all the usual functions of a social networking site: profile pages, friends, photos, discussion groups and events -- all this in addition to our
website. If you are a member of Facebook, the Saint Francis Xavier Fan Page can be found by searching “Church of Saint Francis Xavier NYC” - be sure to spell out Saint. If you're not a member, check it out and search for our fan
page. You'll find lots of your friends and family are already on Facebook! It's a great way to keep in touch with people. So, spread the word. Email your friends or any other Fans of Saint Francis Xavier. Post our online resources to your
blog or website. Remember, search for “Church of Saint Francis Xavier.” See you on Facebook! There are many exciting happenings at our parish this year.
Whom Shall I Send • Saturday, May 9th • 7:30 pm
Main Church
The Xavier Company presents Whom Shall I Send, an exciting new musical that finds its roots in the New Testament as it depicts God’s call to the disciples and their response.
The energetic dialogue, vibrant songs and dances celebrate the spiritual journey of Peter, Paul, John, Mary Magdalene, and Lydia. This poignant and moving drama engages the audience in a story of faith, love and friendship. Whom Shall I Send is sponsored by the PAX program at Xavier. Suggested donation: $10. www.xaviercompany.org
Gay and Lesbians at Xavier Anniversary Liturgy
Friday, May 15th, 7:00 pm
"New wine from old skins"
We welcome a new Church
The Gay and Lesbian Ministry celebrates another year of articulated ministry to welcome women and men within the Xavier community and outreach to the
wider gay and lesbian people of the city. It is not necessary to be a part of the Friday evening groups, but come celebrate God's initiative in helping us find
a home in God's place.
Our dedication has encouraged dialogue outside of these parish walls and the seeds we've planted grow every day. Everyone is invited, so please mark your
calendar and plan to come with friends, family, gay or straight and support.
After the liturgy there will be a celebratory gathering with food and wine. For information or to offer food and/or services please contact: SFXglgroup@aol.com or SFXwomen@aol.com
Saturday, May 16th from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Are you actively involved in ANY Parish ministry or activity? Would you like to be?
The Pastoral Council will host a day devoted to ministry and activity formation & development, dealing with questions such as “how do our ministries and parish groups stay true to their missions?” and “how do we encourage new members and leaders for our parish?” E-vites will go out to all those listed as leaders/contact persons in our parish brochure and other previously identified leaders. If you are actively involved and do not receive an e-vite or if you would like to get further information about becoming more involved in the life of the
parish and possibly attend this special day (please identify yourself to any Pastoral Council member, or email sandy.mattingly@cbhk.com).

How
can I be a part of the Welcome Table?
It's simple, really. Help is needed each week, either for the morning
shift— 9am-11:30am or for the afternoon shift—12pm-3:30pm.
Please contact Ruth Mills at 212-932-8969 or ruthjmills@msn.com

Shelter update
We provide a safe, warm and dry space for 15 men each night, and we are
doing our best to make Hurtato Hall a place of hospitality and welcome
for these men. We are still looking for volunteers interested in
spending the night with our guests in Hurtato Hall. If this is something you can do,
or would like more information about, please call extension
235.
NEW SHELTER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!
We are offering a new volunteer opportunity at the shelter for those who cannot stay all night. The most activity—and the need for additional volunteer assistance— occurs between the time the men arrive and the time they go to sleep. If you cannot spend the night but are interested in volunteering, please consider taking the “Primetime Shift”, from approx. 7:30—11:30pm. You will assist with checking the men in, providing food, chatting with the guests and overseeing activity until lights out. Please call Cassandra for additional information or to volunteer at:
212-627-2100, x205.
