Please mark your calendars for these 2 very powerful and timely events:
XAVIER CONCERT ACROSS AMERICA
September 25, 2016
from 2:30- 3:30 PM
Xavier musicians and singers under the direction of John Uehlein, with the Peace and Justice Committee, will remember the victims of America’s gun violence epidemic (forgotten by Congress) with The Concert Across America, one in a series of live events from coast to coast.
WHY MOBILIZE WITH MUSIC?
In a critical presidential election year, it is vital to remind the nation of the 500,000+ souls murdered by firearms in the last 50 years and put the issue in front of Congress – and the American people – one last time before voters go to the polls in November. The enormity of loss is unbearable and all too easily forgotten, and so with music, we create a positive national moment of collective remembrance supported by action.

FILM SCREENING AND DISCUSSION / THURSDAY 9/29/16 6:30 PM in Hurtado Hall (Doors will open at 6 PM)
Making a Killing: Guns, Greed, and the NRA
This powerful film tells stories of how guns, and the billions of dollars made off of them, affect the lives of everyday Americans. It features personal stories from people across the country who have been affected by gun violence, including survivors and victims' families. The film exposes how the powerful gun companies and the NRA are resisting responsible legislation for the sake of profit - and thereby putting people in danger.
The film will be followed by discussion of the various gun issues with which Americans are dealing and of ways to become active in the areas of personal interest to those who attend.
We hope to see and hear from you, your families, and your friends at this event.
Peace and Love.
