To celebrate International Women’s Day designated by the UN annually in March, women leaders from Judaism, Islam, Roman Catholic, and Presbyterian traditions will share their personal experiences leading as women.

Speakers:

Ms. Debbie Almontaser, founder and former principal of the Kahlil Gibran International Academy in Brooklyn, NY.  She is the author “Leading While Muslim, The Experiences of American Muslim Principals after 9/11” which was published in 2019.

Rabbi Mira Rivera, received ordination at the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2015 with an M.A in Jewish Studies and a certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education.   She is affiliated with the Romemu spiritual community.

Rev. Dr. Barbara E. Davis, Executive Minister at First Presbyterian Church, NYC.  She is a graduate of Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania, where she majored in religion and a graduate of Union Theological Seminary (M.Div., ’96), New York City and completed her doctorate at Fordham University in religious education.

Ms. Eileen Markey is the author of “Radical Faith: The Assassination of Sr. Maura,” an American Catholic Maryknoll sister who served as a missionary in Nicaragua and El Salvador, working with the poor and refugees in Central America from 1959 until her murder in 1980. Eileen is a journalist who has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, Jacobin, The Village Voice, WNYC New York Public Radio, City Limits, and The New Republic as well as America Magazine, Commonweal and the National Catholic Reporter.
