When New Sanctuary Coalition invited artists to produce installations for the Deportee Suitcase March on July 26th, Xavier’s own Lourdes Bernard created the piece pictured below, which she titled, Flag in a Suitcase.  Here is Lourdes’ reflection about her piece:

In the 35 year Boston Holiday Tradition of A Dancer’s Christmas, and Christmas Reflections Robert VerEecke S.J. has created Christmas Revelations for NY audiences. Christmas Revelations is a theater/dance production that weaves together Christmas stories, favorites from A Dancer’s Christmas and Christmas Reflections with new choreographic works including Gesu Bambino, composed by Xavier Organist Pietro Yon 100 years ago. The cast includes professional actors and dancers from NY, Boston, and Kingston Jamaica. 

You have the opportunity to bring Christmas cheer to 185 children from Picture the Homeless, Community Voices Heard, Life Experience & Faith Sharing, and STEPS to End Family Violence.

We will conduct free tours of the church as part of our participation in the annual Open House New York on October 14-15.

As this Season of Creation comes to a close with the Oct. 4th Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, let’s mix in a bit of St. Francis Xavier with the Ignatian Examen to ask ourselves how we are doing. 

For 30 years, Lay Spirits has sponsored a spiritual formation program. Through presentations from guest speakers, personal reflection and spiritual conversation, participants seek a closer connection to God and accompany each other on the journey.

Now is the time when the music ministry especially seeks new members for the coming year. There are five ways in which you might want to participate: The Choir, The Family Faith Choir, The Sunday 5PM Schola Choir, The Bell Choir, and The Instrumental Group. We are particularly looking for new singers in the 5PM Sunday Schola and the Family Faith Choir.
